Gymnastics...What fun!

This morning Malia was invited to try out "The Little Gym" with her friend Sophie. At this age it's all about exploration of basic motor and early social skill development. There were about 10-12 kids ranging from 10 months up to 19 months. They call this age group the "Birds". They did everything from play with bells, work on locomotor skills, play with balls, chase bubbles, to learning actual gymnastic skills and just exploring the gym. Today Malia learned how to do a forward roll using a wedge mat and a back handspring using a cylinder mat (it was more of just rolling backwards over a mat, using the same movement of an actual back handspring). She really enjoyed herself, had fun with the other kids, and tried everything. We loved the environment and the gymnastic teachers were fun, energetic, and great with the kids. I think we will sign her up for the Fall session. Who knows...she just might take after her momma! :)

Here are some pictures...

Trying to figure out what this spring board is all about.

Climbing up the wedge mat

Not sure of the balance beam (that's okay honey, mommy never liked it either)

Her beaver instincts kicking in

Thought the colorful mats were pretty cool

Had a blast with the bouncy balls

Her and Sophie playing

She is not sure why the kids are putting up the balls.

All of the kids followed the teacher when he put the balls up in the closet.

I think the kids still wanted to play with the balls. :)

Thanks Sophie for inviting us to come with you to gymnastics. We had so much fun!

Splash Splash Splash

Eating lunch over looking the Ashely River and cooling off in an over sized bath tub....what more could you want!

We had such a relaxing day this Memorial Day. We enjoyed a nice picnic with Gramme and our good ole friend Mr. Colonel (KFC). Yum!! After lunch we changed into our bathing suits and went for our very first swim. Malia didn't hesitate and went right in. She cruised around in Mr. Crab, then decided to hang with mommy and daddy. What a wonderful way to spend our day!

I prefer a cat water bowl...but this will work.

What a view!

Silly Munkey!

Hey people, are we going swimming yet?

Which way to the pool?

As you can imagine, we took a lot of pictures. Here is a slide show of a few of our favorites.

Thanks Patsy for opening up your house!! We had a great time.

Malia's very own house!

Malia is getting ready to turn 1 in a few weeks. Gramme has started to shower her with her birthday gifts. First grandchild's first birthday, to say Gramme is excited is an under statement. :) One of Malia's gifts was her very own house. She loves it!

Hello everybody!!

Thanks Gramme...I love my new house!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Mother's Day, what a great day! As I take a look back to when I became a mom and reflect on the last year, so many emotions go through my head. I always thought Mother's Day was special, guess I didn't realize how special until I became a mom. Everything I am today is because of many people. However, the main people I would like to thank is God, my wonderful Husband, my daughter, and my loving Mom. Obviously, I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for God and following his path that he laid before me. But it goes back even further than that...my mom. Many of you just see my mom as this woman that devotes a lot of time in the children's nursery at church, loves animals, and would do anything for her granddaughter or family. Many of you are unaware though of the sacrifices she had to make just to make sure my brother and I had a wonderful upbringing. Therefore, I just want to say thank you mom for being the BEST mother and for essentially giving up your life and dreams, just to make sure Dave and I could live ours. I would not be the woman much less the mother I am today if it weren't for all the LOVE and SUPPORT you provided me through the years. As I reflect on this past year and look forward towards the future, I can only pray that I too will be the mother that Malia looks up to and respects.
Thank you for all that you have done!! Happy Mother's Day.

We love you!

1st BIG Milestone!!

Last Saturday we were at a friends birthday party and Malia decided that she was going to start walking. Since I didn't have my video camera with me I figured I could just capture it on Sunday, wrong!! After we left the party, she decided that walking was no longer the cool thing to do. However, a week later she started walking again and I was fully prepared with my camera on hand.

Here is a short clip of our baby girl walking.

On the road again...

Miss Malia is back on the road again! We decided to trade in our bike trailer for an awesome Co-Pilot Taxi seat (Thanks Jen!). I was extremely nervous the first time we went out, but within just a few seconds I was fine. She absolutely loved it!! We were going to wait until we bought her a helmet, but we couldn't wait. We just stayed close to home and will venture out once we get her a helmet. The entire time she was just kicking her feet, talking up a storm, and enjoyed the breeze blowing through her hair.

Here are some pictures...

Getting ready to go!

Let's get on with it mommy!

On the go!
